Hilde

Story

Hilde, born into a noble family, was sent to a church for education at a young age due to certain family reasons. Hilde had her happiest childhood memories there, always able to find joy in the otherwise dull and somber life at the church. Her cheerful presence brought a spark of light to the austere lives of the priests.
Unfortunately, Hilde was struck by a hereditary eye disease at fourteen. This strange illness would eventually take away the patient's sight. Some in Hilde's family lost their vision in a few short years, while others only suffered the ordeal decades later. However, blindness was inescapable, unless a miracle happened...

Hilde was still able to see when she first contracted the disease. Upon learning that it would take at least a few years for her disease to progress, she decided to make a prayer. Through her devotion, she received a divine revelation: to study pharmacology. It was a trial she had to conquer to restore her vision.
From then on, Hilde dedicated herself to studying her eye disease day and night, praying for a miracle. The others at the temple intended to persuade Hilde to accept her fate, but none dared to defy the divine revelation...
Perhaps it was the power of the miracle, or maybe Hilde was truly a genius, but against all odds, her eye disease surprisingly slowed its progression, allowing her to retain some of her sight.

Intrigued by Hilde's story, an archbishop of the church invited her to join the central cathedral and study alongside him.
Unfortunately, beneath the archbishop's seemingly kind gesture lay a sinister motive—to study Hilde's cursed eyes and offer them to a powerful figure.
The archbishop cruelly took Hilde's eyes under the guise of a baptism ceremony and used his influence to cover up the truth. Meanwhile, Hilde's family had long given up on her due to the eye disease. No one cared about her fate...

Hilde once recounted the miracle that occurred to her. A sound in her mind guided her back to consciousness, and to her surprise, she could perceive everything happening around her when she woke up... Hilde called this ability the "spiritual sight."
It is hard to believe that a blind monk can live a normal life, but those who have been helped by Hilde see her as the embodiment of compassion. Not only does she offer guidance to the lost through her devout prayers, but she also uses her medical knowledge to heal the world.
