"A blade must be honed a thousand times to be sharp, and a dance takes a lifetime of dedication to master." Yeonwoo weaves this principle of swordsmanship into every aspect of her daily life.
Yeonwoo first held a sword at the age of five—a ceremonial blade that stood taller than she did. While other children were still busy playing and roughhousing, she rose early each morning, practicing her stance with quiet determination.
She tirelessly repeated the routine day after day, each session lasting for a few hours. It wasn't until a year later that her master, who was also her father, finally taught her the most basic moves.
At that moment, no one could have foreseen the remarkable things she would go on to achieve in the future.
Yeonwoo trains in autumn to absorb the spirit of fallen petals and races through stormy nights to emulate the grace of swallows. She incorporates everything she has seen and heard into her dance.
Each time she executes her moves, she reconnects with her beliefs and purpose. Each time she sheaths her sword, she quiets her restlessness with calm.
