Bear Hunt for Beginner

1. What is the Bear Trap?

  • An Alliance event that runs every 2 days (not a full 48 hours — resets follow the daily reset clock).
  • Only R4 or higher ranks can place and schedule a trap within Alliance territory.
  • Every Alliance has two Hunting Traps, but they can never be active at the same time.
  • The Bear never fights back — this is a pure damage check. Defense, Health, and troop losses don’t matter.
  • Rallies against the Bear don’t use Governor Stamina and don’t count against your normal march slots — it’s a “Special March.”

⚠️ Key takeaway: Do not leave your Alliance during a Bear Trap event if you want your rewards. Stay put until the tally is complete.

2. How the fight actually works

Understanding the math behind the Bear explains why certain heroes and troop types matter.

Bear stat block

  • The Bear is made up of 5,000 special infantry troops.
  • Each Bear troop has 10 Defense and 83.33 Health.
  • Because the Bear counts as infantry, Archers deal +10% extra damage to it (Ranged Strike vs. infantry).
  • Battles always run the full 10 rounds — they never end early like a normal fight.
  • Your damage is consistent every time (no RNG), unless you’re using chance-based hero skills.
📌Why archers lead your composition
  • Basic combat rules mean Archers and Cavalry outdamage Infantry against an infantry-type target.
  • Even so, sending zero Infantry performs worse than sending a small amount — Kingshot’s damage formula rewards some troop variety.

3. Trap Enhancement

  • Open the trap and select Trap Enhancement to donate Hunting Arrows (earned from Intel missions / hunting Beasts on the map).
  • Each level adds a flat Attack bonus against the Bear, maxing at Level 5 = +25% Attack for the whole Alliance.

  • This bonus is additive, not multiplicative, and it applies to everyone participating.
  • Donations beyond Level 5 don’t add anything — don’t overspend arrows on one trap.
  • The two traps have separate enhancement pools, and both reset to 0 once their event expires.

4. Rallying vs. Joining

These are two very different roles with different rules for what counts toward damage.

👉 Leading a rally

  • Every stat you have contributes: Gear, Charms, Widgets, Battle Research, Island buffs, Temporary buffs, Pet buffs, Cosmetic Bonuses, Ministry titles.
  • All 3 Expedition Skills on each hero apply — not just the first one.
  • Hero placement doesn’t matter when rallying.
  • You get up to 5 rallies per event.

📌 Amadeus and Helga are the only 2 infantry heroes with an offensive widget, hence they will be permanently your best bear trap infantry hero, Amadeus is slightly better.

👉 Joining a rally

  • Only one thing counts: the top-right (1st) Expedition Skill of the hero in your left-most slot.
  • Gear, ascension, and hero power are irrelevant to your join score.
  • Only your 4 highest-leveled first skills apply — build presets around this.
  • You can join up to 6 marches, depending on unlocked march slots.

👉 Choosing who to join

  • New players (Low Troop Count): send all your Archers and Cavalry into the strongest (“whale”) rally in your Alliance for max efficiency.
  • More Experienced players: spread troops evenly so you always have Archers ready for every rally.

5. Heroes, gear & widgets

📌Rally composition, by generation

  • Gen 1: Sending mythic heroes is generally strongest — they carry 3 Expedition Skills, and all 3 apply when rallying.

  • Gen 2: Defensive skills do nothing against the Bear — prioritize damage skills. Zoe is a solid free alternative to the pay-to-win Amadeus.

📌 Best Joining Heroes

  • Any Hero with a strong damage increasing top right skill is great for bear hunt when joining, within limitations of course
  • Specifically these heroes provide a guaranteed increase to your damage unlike chance based skills which are very volatile
  • Although Amadeus has an amazing joining skill, they are far better to open a rally instead

📌 Widgets

  • Widget skills are split into Offensive and Defensive — only Offensive widgets apply during Bear Hunt.
  • Amadeus and Helga are the only unique infantry heroes with offensive widgets; Amadeus edges out Helga with 3 offensive skills vs. her 2.

6. Rewards

  • Rewards scale with Personal Damage in tiers — Forgehammers, Lucky Hero Gear Chests, Enhancement EXP Parts, Alliance Tokens, and resources.
  • The Hunting Achievement milestone is a one-time reward, based on your single highest damage hunt ever.

⚠️ Don’t lose your rewards! Personal Damage Rewards only go to members still in the Alliance at tally. Leaving the Alliance during the event resets your points — rejoining before tally does not undo this.
