Youngest member of the wilderness rangers cavalry group, Diana is famous inside and outside for her dashing red hair, good looks, steely-cold exterior, and fighting skills. Many are the soldiers of neighboring kingdoms who would love to be better acquainted with the red-haired maiden of the rangers.
No matter Diana's reputation within the mercenary corps, she must still face the same the baptism of fire. Eventually she must face a Netherfiend. Alone. It is a mighty foe even to the most experienced warrior.
Somewhere deep in the dark desert the Netherfiend roams, seeking an opportunity to attack travelers at their weakest point. It is this test more than any other that has come to vex Diana of late...
Diana was first discovered by the wilderness rangers during a routine quest. Baby Diana was still swaddled in diapers and did not cry as most others would in that desolate place. The infant calmly gazed at the commander with her lovely eyes as he decided her fate. Without hesitation he picked her up and placed her on horseback. She would ride with them for death or glory.
Karma was certainly in force that day. The commander expected many casualties and a difficult battle. Not even a hair of one of his regiment were harmed at the end of the fight. Was it a miracle? Had rescuing Diana brought good luck? It soon became something of a ritual for departing rangers to speak a few words to the child before departing for good luck.
Diana's first solo mission came when she was still a teenager. For two days and nights she camped out near a swamp-infested watering hole. When the travelling bandit leader stopped for water, she slew him instantly.
The young child has grown into quite the warrior with a patience and determination that surprises most people who see only her fair looks. She has become an immovable force within the mercenary unit, utterly devoted to her adoptive father and idealism of the rangers.
"Every member of the rangers is free. Every member is part of a greater whole. Only three principles govern our every action. Follow these and you may call yourself a ranger without shame or challenge. Hold them fast to the last. Deny them and we shall deny you. First, never oppress the weak. Second, respect freedom of conscience. Never press another into your service. Third, there shall be no betrayal in our ranks. Even if you must lose your own life."
The rangers' sacred tenets are never far from Diana's heart. On any other subject Diana will say little. Talk to her of the wilderness rangers and her eyes will light up and words flow like a mountain stream.
